08 March 2024 – Earth-i is delighted to announce the appointment of our new Head of Technology, Dr Syed Akhtar and it continues to strengthen its technology team. Syed will lead a highly motivated technical team working on Earth-i’s earth observation solutions such as our metals monitoring products, SAVANT and GAINS, as well as future innovations. With 10 years in the FinTech industry, Syed has developed highly-reliable, low-latency software and managed teams of experienced developers. His previous roles have included the National Space Agency in Pakistan for over six years, where he was responsible for designing and developing the on-board data handling system for an Earth observation satellite. Syed earned a fully-funded doctorate from the University of Surrey, focusing on developing predictive analytics to enhance learning and teaching. He also holds a master’s degree in Satellite Communications Engineering and a bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Systems Engineering. “I am excited to use my experience to explore new product possibilities at Earth-i,” said Syed. “I am passionate about the intersection of technology, education, and innovation, always seeking to push the boundaries of what is possible.
