Earth-i will use Amazon Web Services (AWS) services to demonstrate its scalable remote sensing analytics capability

LONDON, UK (September 7, 2022) — Earth-i today announced it has been selected to participate in the AWS Defence Accelerator, a technical, business, and mentorship program for startups seeking to use AWS to help solve the biggest challenges in the defence industry. This opportunity will support Earth-i’s efforts to demonstrate its existing, scalable, cloud-based, remote sensing analytics capability.

The four-week AWS Defence Accelerator curriculum provides participating startups with technical training, business support, mentorship, coaching, and hands-on assistance with AWS Cloud.

Earth-i will use the AWS Defence Accelerator to deepen its knowledge of the UK and international defence sector by gaining access to significant subject matter expertise across UK defence, AWS technology, business, and product development, as well as access to end-user communities to help Earth-i refine its products and services, and better understand the defence supplier landscape.

“The team at Earth-i are absolutely thrilled to be a part of the first AWS Defence Accelerator”, commented Charles Davis, CEO at Earth-i. “Remote sensing data from multi-sensor and multi-resolution commercial satellite operators is poised to become a key component of commercial and defence digital transformation and sustainability programmes. We look forward to collaborating with AWS’s global technology and business development teams to help refine our defence products and services and learn how such services can be enhanced  on the cloud.”

As one of 10 companies chosen for this opportunity, Earth-i will receive up to $100,000 in AWS Activate credit, specialised AWS training and support, mentorship from defence-industry experts, and additional business development resources including opportunities to speak with defence-savvy venture investors.

“AWS looks forward to collaborating with these selected startups to accelerate their missions and help them support defence customers using cloud technology,” said Chris Hayman, Director, Public Sector UK, Amazon Web Services. “Congratulations to this impressive cohort of companies, who were selected from hundreds of applicants for their innovative approaches and commitment to defence technology.”
